MAUI name origin

Actually, the name of "Maui" for the island was not because of the kupua Maui, son of 'Akalana and Hina, but rather the chief Mauiloa, son of Hanala'aiki who had passed his reign down to his son Maui. Hanala'iki was the ruling chief of Maui while his twin brother Hanali'inui was the ancestral chief for those of Hawai'i island. 66.215.18.34
