Major Mitchell’s cockatoos (Cacatua leadbeateri) are nomadic, following the rain. When the conditions

are right and plenty of food is available, they breed. Raising a head crest of feathers to reveal a flash of red and gold, the male arouses the female’s interest. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks.
