Completed in 1998, Four Seasons Resort Aviara, North San Diego was designed in Spanish Colonial architecture and set on plateau overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon and Wildlife Preserve. The hotel was constructed with an 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and a 15,000-square-foot spa, which was rated a top hotel spa by Zagat in 2001 and Condé Nast Traveler in 2002. The golf course was honored with Golf Magazine's 2004 Gold Medal Resorts Award and ranked #18 on Golf Digest's Top 75 Golf Resorts. Four Seasons Resort Aviara, North San Diego currently houses 329 guest rooms, including 19 suites.

The resort is a part of the Toronto-based Four Seasons chain of luxury hotels and resorts. It is the only AAA Five Diamond resort in San Diego, also offers California's #2 ranked golf course and resort according to Golf Digest. It is located just 30 miles north of San Diego, in the heart of Southern California.
