Overview[]
The country got its name based on the Moldova River. The moldova river valley used to be the center of political affairs at the time of country's establishment in 1359. The origin of the name of the river is not clear.

The main attractions of the countries can be visited in the following four cities: Chisinau (Capital), Tiraspol, Balti and Bender.
Chisinau
Chisinau includes the following National Museum of Moldovan Art, National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Dendrarium Park, Valea Morilor, and St. Theodor Tiron Convent (truly a beautifully architecture building). Apart from these in Chisinau, you can also visit Museum of Moldovan Military and a various small things to do in Chisinau.
Tiraspol
Tiraspol have almost the equal number of attractions. However, very few of it might interest you as a general traveler. Although, if you are a backpacker and seek information and find new places, then it can be a good place for you. The main attractions in the city includes Christmas Cathedral, Presentational Church of Child Jesus.
Balti
Despite being the 2nd largest city in Moldova in terms of population, the city doesn't have much attractions. The only attractions you may visit includes St. Nicolae Cathedral and Barza Alba. Although, you might like the market area known as "Central Market".
Bender
Bender is slightly rich when it comes to historic moldova and one of the main attraction that you can visit there is Bender Fortress. Apart from it, you can visit Transfiguration Cathedral and Church of the Holy Joachim and Anna.
