Overview
Charlotte Amalie, located on the island of Saint Thomas in the Caribbean Sea, is the capital of the United States Virgin Islands, an unincorporated territory of the United States. Its 2004 population (estimated) was 19,000. Its official 2000 census population was 18,914 [1]. Charlotte Amalie is also the name of the deep water harbor that was once a pirates haven and is now the famed cruise ship port. About 1.5 million cruise ship passengers landed on St. Thomas in 2004.
