The Bronx district is situated on the mainland but, unfortunately, does not enjoy a good reputation. It is worthwhile visiting The New York Botanical Gardens, an immense park which boasts 230 varieties of roses, 58 varieties of peonies and a world famous herb garden. In order to arrive at the gardens, catch the Metro North which leaves from Grand Central Terminal.
