Bordeaux Pont de Pierre

Bridge of Pierre over Garonne river in Bordeaux, France.

Bordeaux is a city in southwestern France, and well worth a visit, but it can be quite hard to get out of the city and suburbs.

If you are touring the region the best approach may be to take a Regional SNGV service out of the city from the main station so that you can link-up with the smaller N-roads at villages outside of the city itself.

Once you are on your way you will find yourself in the very heart of wine country and hitching from village to village is a joy. Be sure to pick up a good bottle for a roadside lunch as even LIDL sell great versions of the local produce.

On the road take plenty of sunscreen and water in the summer months ( you might not always get good shade between lifts !! ) and as long as you can manage with short lifts and don't mind the odd detour then this is a great place to pass through.

Warm, friendly, welcoming people and amazing countryside !!
